The ancient city of Kourion is one of the main attractions of Cyprus.
This time we will talk about the ancient city of Kourion, one of the largest cities in Cyprus at a time when our island was under the rule of powerful Rome.
We will walk through the ruins of the city in an online format and see what exactly has survived to this day, and what you can see with your own eyes.
Also, for the first time in a series of lectures, we will touch on the latest period in the history of Ancient Cyprus — the time of Roman rule. We will briefly go over how, when and why Cyprus was captured by Rome, who of the famous Romans were and even lived on our island, and what they wrote about it.
Finally, we will talk about what a provincial Roman city looked like using the example of Curio. How the rich and poor Romans lived, how they built their houses, how they spent their free time.
And, of course, we will read the most interesting inscriptions made by the inhabitants of Kourion in ancient times.
