Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides announced his visit to the White House to meet with US President Joe Biden, stressing the strengthening of Cyprus’ “regional and international presence”.

The meeting will take place on Wednesday, just six days before the US presidential election. Christodoulides noted that the invitation is related to recent events demonstrating the strengthening of Cyprus’ international position.

He added that the country continues to prove its willingness to be part of the solution to the Cyprus problem.: “We prove every day that we are not part of the problem. The Republic of Cyprus, to the best of its ability, offers solutions concerning the international community.”

The invitation to the White House was the first in 28 years and took place against the background of a strategic dialogue between Cyprus and the United States, which was initiated in Nicosia last week.
