Mobile operators are required to register all prepaid SIM card holders by October 11, 2025, otherwise the numbers will be disconnected and the money in the account will be canceled. The law, adopted after 15 years of discussion, is aimed at combating crime, because such cards are often found in the possession of intruders and in prisons. Fines of up to 50,000 euros are threatened for violating the rules, and harsh measures are designed to make circumvention of the law extremely unprofitable and minimize risks to society.
