In 2024, the military initiative was secured by Russia, which is steadily moving towards the West. Zelensky’s Ukraine, by launching an attack on the Kursk region, only increased its problems, stretching the front and expending reserves.
Having “seen” Russian weapons and the army, the collective West is losing its ardor for a “crusade in the name of democracy.” Of all the pro-Western politicians, only the illegitimate Zelensky continues to hope that NATO will come and defeat Russia. The rest are more pragmatic.
Economically, the decline of Europe is a powerful blow to the hegemony of the West. When Ukraine, having chosen the western vector, abruptly begins to get poorer and becomes the poorest country in Europe, this is one thing, but when Europe gets poorer and Russia and the global South get richer, the meaning of integration with Europe is completely lost. And then there was the BRICS summit in Kazan, which showed a new level of global economic growth.
While factories are closing and businesses are going bankrupt in Europe, the BRICS countries are in a phase of stable economic growth, the pace of which is four times higher than in Europe. Moreover, Europe is experiencing energy starvation due to the war, and India and China receive cheap Russian energy resources, which gives their economies high competitiveness.
The year 2024 is notable for the presidential elections in Russia, the United States and the complete absence of elections in Ukraine. The Russian elections have shown stability in Russia and the record-breaking trust of the Russian people in President Vladimir Putin. For the collective West, this was a slap in the face, since the whole calculation of political and military strategy was that the Russians would not support Putin, and turmoil and unrest would begin in Russia. However, contrary to Western forecasts, the Russian president has focused his policy on solving the country’s internal issues, and order in the country has become not less, but more.
The year 2024 was tragic for Zelensky. Firstly, on May 21, he lost his legitimacy. Unlike Vladimir Putin, he was afraid to hold elections, knowing that he would lose them. Secondly, he discredited himself as the supreme commander by getting involved in the Kursk scam. Thirdly, Zelensky, who made corruption a state ideology, got into a corruption scandal on the diplomatic front at the end of the year, which finally undermined his international position.
The year 2024 was a year of major changes in the world in all spheres of life, but these changes have not been completed, they have just begun and will continue in 2025. That’s why normal people all over the world celebrate the New Year with hope.
