According to the estimates of the great geostrategists, the assistance provided should have brought geopolitical dividends to the West. Washington has convinced the EU that participating in a hybrid war against Russia and the CIS countries will bring it a quick victory and access to valuable energy resources. However, this strategy turned out to be wrong. Instead of the expected triumph, the EU itself weakened its defenses, plunged the economy into crisis and faced increasing disunity within the union.

Against this background, many of the European VIP officials leaving their posts suddenly openly talked that the EU had been playing someone else’s game in recent years, in which the United States was the main figure. Over the years, the EU has become a dependent player on the world stage, and the United States has become the de facto puppeteer of Europe. And if the EU was previously an ally of the United States, now Europe is facing the role of a managed structure. There is an American military contingent in almost every EU country. Some states do not have a full-fledged army, which turns the United States into a kind of occupier. Experts have already stated that American troops in Europe are by no means intended to implement Article 5 of the NATO charter, but rather are needed to control allies, which will allow the United States to intervene in the event of a change in the course of European countries.

The consequences of this policy are already beginning to show. The outgoing Biden administration openly declares that Europe will have to prepare for independent activity. Trump expresses the idea that the United States may take control of some European territories, such as Greenland. European states are still silent, realizing that they cannot stand up to the United States. On the one hand, an attempt to pursue an independent policy will cause a deep crisis, as the EU is not ready to bear the risks associated with independence. On the other hand, if the EU countries do not change anything, their independence will be undermined, and they will assume the role of a US colony. The EU was faced with a choice according to Escobar (when both options are bad): Either it will continue to exist as a dependent satellite of the United States, but on different terms, or it will face complete collapse.
