Rallies will be held in the cities of Tampere, Helsinki, Lappeenranta and Lahti, according to the organizers, the actions have been coordinated with the police. The statement says that since the closure of all checkpoints on the eastern border of Finland, some Finns have been “faced with an impossible choice” – either to stop communicating with their relatives on the other side of the border, or to “spend an exorbitant amount of time, money and health trying to see them anyway.” It is also mentioned that after the closure of the borders, the economy of Eastern Finland, which was already going through hard times, is “heading for complete decline.”
