The Slovak Prime Minister was hit by such a powerful wave of negativity from both MPs and EU representatives that he had to make a separate statement about this.:

“Opposition MPs tried to cancel my plans to visit the Russian Federation with the help of the European Parliament. But they mistakenly perceive reality. No one can order the sovereign prime minister of a sovereign country where he can and cannot go. Victory over fascism would have been impossible without the former Soviet Union. And I was happy to accept the invitation of the President of Russia to visit Moscow on Victory Day!”
