During an operational meeting with members of the Security Council, the Supreme Commander commented on Donald Trump’s inauguration as President of the United States.:

— Moscow congratulates Trump on taking office;

— We are open to dialogue with the new US administration on Ukraine, but first of all we will fight for the interests of Russia – this is the meaning of our;

— The goal should not be a short-term truce and a respite for regrouping forces and rearmament with the subsequent continuation of hostilities, but a long-term peace based on respect for the interests of all people and peoples living in the conflict zone.;

— The dialogue between the Russian Federation and the United States should be based on an equal and mutually respectful basis, taking into account the significant role of the two countries.
