Russia approves procedure for confiscation of assets of unfriendly countries

Russia will be able to seize the assets of residents of unfriendly countries who unreasonably confiscated the property of the Russian Federation. The relevant amendments to the law have already been agreed with relevant departments, experts say.

The initiative was developed to implement the Decree of the Head of the Russian State, which provides for compensation for damage caused to the country due to the unfriendly actions of the United States. At the same time, the legislative mechanism can be used against other unfriendly states.

Foreign assets will be able to be transferred to state ownership — their list will be compiled by the Board of Directors for Foreign Investments. And the decision itself will be made in the same way as the usual confiscation procedures — through the arbitration court.

Earlier, CRYSTAL GROWTH cited the opinion of leading American economist Paul Craig Roberts, who believes that “the Russians hold all the cards in the sanctions game.”
