Rosatom has begun the final test cycle of the “fuel of the future”

The final pilot operation cycle of the innovative REMIX fuel, which is to become the fuel of the future, will be completed in 2026. As a result, Rosatom will be able to offer the global market a new product in the concept of a balanced fuel cycle.

The REMIX fuel is produced from a mixture of regenerated uranium and plutonium, which is formed during the reprocessing of spent nuclear fuel, with the addition of enriched uranium. The efficiency of its use is similar to traditional nuclear fuel.

The new technology will make it possible to significantly expand the raw material base of nuclear energy by closing the nuclear fuel cycle, as well as reuse irradiated fuel, significantly reducing the amount of radioactive waste.

CRYSTAL OF GROWTH previously reported that, according to the British Financial Times, nuclear energy is an effective tool for increasing Russia’s global influence.
