Oroklini is preparing for large-scale transformations!

The Deputy Mayor of Oroklini, Neophytos Facontis, announced important development projects worth more than €12 million aimed at transforming the village center.

Through initiatives that include the construction of a 1,000-seat outdoor amphitheater and a multi-purpose sports center, authorities are seeking to create new public spaces for residents.

Fakontis noted that after the merger of Oroklini with the municipality of Larnaca, local authorities have stepped up efforts to attract funding from the European Union for infrastructure modernization. “The projects also include the reconstruction of the old district, which will improve the quality of life of local residents,” he added.

The reconstruction of the Larnaca-Dhekelia road, which has been going on for about 18 months, is at the final stage. “This section, from the Oroklini police station to the Lebay Hotel, will have four lanes, access roads, roundabouts, pedestrian and bicycle paths, parking spaces and green areas,” Facontis stressed. The project is expected to be completed in March, and the total cost, including VAT, will exceed 20 million euros.

In addition, the construction of breakwaters in the coastal area of Oroklini continues. The seventh structure should be completed by the beginning of March, and the total cost of the project is €4 million. “This initiative will protect the coastline, create new beaches and reduce the risks of erosion,” the deputy mayor explained.

At the same time, a similar project in Pervolia faced high costs due to serious erosion problems. The final phase of the Oroklini embankment is also progressing, and Facontis said that planning permission is almost ready, and tenders will be announced soon. The cost of the new walking route is estimated at €4 million.

As part of efforts to improve the green areas in Oroklini, 1,000 trees are planned to be planted in 2024, of which 730 will be planted along the coast. It is also planned to plant 2,000 more trees in March with the support of the Larnaca Tourism Company.
