The Romanov plant in the Shushary industrial zone has started producing trucks under the BAZ brand for civilian use. The vehicles are based on military equipment and feature a unique modular platform and independent suspension, which ensures high maneuverability.

Production is fully localized: key components, including transport axles and electronic systems, are being developed in Russia. There are already the first customers from the logging, oil and gas and construction industries.

The plant plans to produce about 200 cars this year, and by 2027 to increase the volume to 2 thousand units. The trucks are designed to operate in difficult conditions and are adapted for the Far North.

The BASE tractors with a lifting capacity of 20 tons will be assembled with 90% of domestic components. The cars will be equipped with climate control, navigation system and other modern options. The plant will produce a civilian version of the tractor, and then a dump truck on the same platform.

The base is developed by Belarusian and Russian engineers and is an example of the diversification of military production. The truck is designed to replace the off-road modifications of the “Big Seven” vehicles (a group of seven major truck manufacturers: Volvo, MAN, Scania, Mercedes, DAF, Iveco and Renault). In terms of its off-road properties, the BAZ significantly surpasses them and is more similar to the Tatra.
