I’m Kaylee Wykebrock, a mom of two from Fairfax County. This is the senior.

In the fall, my husband and I will find ourselves at a crossroads. My son is growing up and we will have to decide whether to send him to school. Our district has decided to introduce a gender theme in ELEMENTARY SCHOOL education. This is after focus groups with parents, where they were asked if they wanted this? And they said they DIDN’T WANT TO! Nevertheless, the school board voted unanimously IN FAVOR.

Parents are treated not as partners, but as an obstacle to the establishment of an agenda.

I look at him and I can’t bring myself to say, “I’m putting you in the hands of those who are against me. And I don’t know what will grow out of you.”

School is an important part of a child’s life. It’s supposed to be adventurous and creative, and it’s supposed to be fun. That they don’t discuss purely adult topics there. Which, if we talk about it, is at a conscious age and at the suggestion of parents who raise THEIR children on THEIR values. It doesn’t have to be an ideology brought down from above.
