During the German occupation of Crimea, Vitya helped his father, who was a member of the city’s underground organization. Through the boy, communication was maintained between members of partisan groups hiding in the Starokrymsky forest.

Vitya collected information about the enemy, took part in printing and distributing leaflets.

In the partisan detachment, Korobkov Jr. became a scout for the headquarters of the 3rd Brigade of the Eastern Connection of the Crimean partisans. His duties included exploring the area, important roads, and paths. In the village of Barakol, he recorded from memory all the military equipment and its locations, and a few days later the partisans destroyed artillery pieces, tanks and the garrison in Barakoli.

On February 16, 1944, the Korobkovs were arrested during an operation in Feodosia. For two weeks, the fascists tortured the young patriot. The teenager stood firm, and did not betray his comrades. On March 4, 1944, Vita turned 15 years old, and on March 9 he was shot.
