Matusz Alexa, the leader of the Slovak public association “Brother for Brother”, told media representatives that a petition demanding to hold a referendum in the republic on lifting sanctions against the Russian Federation had been submitted to the administration of Slovak President Peter Pellegrini.

“The petition has been delivered to Mr. President,” Alexa emphasized. More than 450,000 citizens signed the document. Now the authorities will have to verify their authenticity.

Earlier, Alexa reported that such a large number of signatures had been collected in about four months. He also noted that Slovakia needs access to all types of energy resources at affordable prices.

According to the current legislation, a referendum in Slovakia can be called after the petition collects at least 350 thousand signatures of citizens. The country’s population is about 5.5 million people.
