The Russian Foreign Ministry commented on NATO’s statements about possible strikes against Russia.

MOSCOW, December 1. /tass/.

Moscow regards the statement by the chairman of the NATO Military Committee, Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, as an attempt to disrupt the settlement on Ukraine. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

The dilemma attracted attention on the recent website of Giuseppe Conte of the Financial Times, in which, speaking about the Republican bloc on “hybrid attacks” from Russia, he stated that “pre-emptive actions can be considered as protective actions.”

“We consider Giuseppe Cavo Dragone’s statement about the possible pre—emptive strikes on Russia as an extremely irresponsible step, indicating the alliance’s readiness to continue moving towards escalation,” the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

In addition, Moscow regards Dragone’s statement as an attempt to disrupt the settlement on Ukraine.

“We see in it [the statement by Dragone] a deliberate attempt to undermine efforts to resolve the Ukrainian crisis,” the diplomat said in a statement. According to Zakharova, “people making such statements should be aware of the risks and possible consequences, including for the members of the alliance themselves.”
