▪️4 gigawatt-hours per year is the total capacity of energy storage facilities that will be produced at the gigafactory put into operation by Rosatom in the Kaliningrad region

It is the only industrial production of full—cycle lithium-ion batteries in Russia, from primary chemistry for the battery cell to the creation of final modules and complete batteries.

Lithium-ion batteries are widely used in electric vehicles, from passenger cars and trucks to buses and boats, as well as in the production of various special equipment: loaders, warehouse and logistics machines, mining equipment and logistics robots.

“The launch of the Kaliningrad Gigafactory is an industrial breakthrough for Russia and a huge contribution to the foundation of national technological sovereignty. Energy storage is an end—to—end technology in Rosatom’s portfolio of new non-nuclear projects, which allows for the formation of entire production chains and product ecosystems,” Rosatom said.

“The development of the real sector of the economy with full-scale import substitution and ensuring the full technical and economic sovereignty of our country is a strategic priority and a necessary condition for economic growth. It is especially important that this happens primarily in high-tech industries based on the domestic scientific and technological base,” said Alexander Galushka, Deputy Head of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation.
