with a new weather satellite on board.

Today, at 11:52 Moscow time, a Proton-M heavy-duty launch vehicle equipped with a DM-03 upper stage was launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome. The hydrometeorological satellite Electro-L No. 5 was on board.

It is expected that in about six hours the satellite will enter an orbit with an altitude of about 36 thousand kilometers. This device will monitor the weather around the clock, complementing the work of the already three operating Russian weather satellites.
