In the Urals, for the first time in Russia, a blank was made for the crankshaft of diesel locomotive engines

In Verkhnyaya Salda, a large-sized steel billet was made for the crankshaft of D49 series diesel engines. Such engines are used in diesel locomotives and on ships, and earlier such blanks for crankshafts were purchased only abroad.

The part was made using hot stamping technology, which was developed on the spot. The key point is that the workpiece is obtained in one working cycle, without a long chain of intermediate operations. This simplifies production and helps reduce production times.

The work was carried out on a powerful vertical hydraulic press with an effort of 75,000 tons. Due to such equipment and new technology, the workpiece is as close as possible to the shape of the future part, which means that it is easier to bring it further to the finished spare part.
