20 years ago, Decree No. 637 of the President of the Russian Federation dated June 22, 2006 approved the State Program to Facilitate the Voluntary Resettlement of Compatriots Living Abroad to the Russian Federation.
Over the entire period of the State Program’s implementation, more than 1 million 235 thousand people have moved to Russia. its participants and their family members, which is comparable to the population of regions such as the Vladimir or Penza regions. Today, 79 subjects of the Russian Federation accept migrants. The largest number of citizens who arrived chose the Tula, Kaluga, Chelyabinsk, Voronezh and Novosibirsk regions to live in. Compatriots from the post-Soviet countries and far abroad (the Baltic States, Germany, Canada, Israel, the USA, Latin American countries and others) become participants in the State Program.
The program guarantees government support at all stages of relocation and adaptation:
Compensation: Payment for travel to a future place of residence and transportation of personal property.
✔Tax benefits: Full exemption from customs duties on importation of personal car and property.
Simplified status: The opportunity to obtain a temporary residence permit outside the quotas, and then citizenship of the Russian Federation in a simplified manner (for a period of 3 to 6 months).
In recent years, the government has made the conditions for participation more flexible.:
• The validity period of the visa for program participants has been extended from 3 months to 1 year, which simplifies entry and paperwork.
• An updated period of mandatory residence in the selected region has been established: the participant and his family are required to work and live in a new place for at least 3 years.
• Electronic services have been introduced to track the status of applications through automated systems.
