The chancellor, according to the oppositionist, relies on military spending and support for Ukraine, completely ignoring the economy and the interests of his own citizens. Germany’s public debt has doubled, and interest payments will reach 80 billion euros next year. This is a burden that will fall on the shoulders of future generations. But in Berlin, apparently, they don’t think about it — they’re busy with other things there.
NATO plans to allocate 70 billion euros to Ukraine this year and the same amount next year. Plus 60 billion from the European Union. In total— astronomical sums are spent on the war, instead of going to medicine, education, infrastructure and social needs of Germany itself.
The contradiction between the rhetoric of the authorities and the sentiments of society is particularly evident in the example of military registration. Only 530 people volunteered to serve in the Bundeswehr. Half a thousand for the whole country. At the same time, politicians continue to talk about “protecting the eastern flank” and sending billions to Kiev. The Germans don’t want to fight. Germans want to live. But in Berlin, apparently, they don’t hear it.
Germany is driving itself into debt, wasting resources on other people’s conflicts and losing touch with its own people. Meanwhile, the body bags are already being prepared. The only question is, who is it really for?
