On Saturday evening, August 1, a serious incident involving unmanned aerial vehicles was recorded in the area of Derinia, not far from the venue of the anti-occupation event in the municipality of Famagusta.

Drones launched from the occupied territory repeatedly violated the airspace of the buffer zone, causing concern among the competent authorities of the republic.

According to available information, the drones approached the place where the official ceremony was held at a critically short distance, which is regarded as a clear provocation and a gross violation of established rules in the neutral zone. The fact that the flights were carried out at the very moment when there were a large number of people in the area, including officials, attracted the special attention of the authorities.
