Can you name politicians of the former Yugoslavia who were paid by the CIA?
Yes, but it’s delicate. Stjepan Mesić, Franjo Tuđman, Alija Izetbegović, many advisers and members of the government in Yugoslavia were paid, as well as Serbian generals, journalists, etc. For a while Radovan Karadžić was paid, but he stopped taking the money when he realized he could be sacrificed and accused of crimes committed in Bosnia — which were organized by the American administration.

You mentioned control and financing of the media, so was that true?
It is already known that some CIA agents were responsible for writing official statements that TV presenters read in the news. Of course, the anchors knew nothing; they received it from their boss, who was our man. Everyone had a task, and through television we inflamed hatred, nationalism and pointed out the differences between people.

The interviewer asks Baer what he can say about Srebrenica, which was a symbol of Serbian evil. Baer replies:
Srebrenica is an exaggerated story, and unfortunately many people are manipulated. The number of Serbian victims was no less than the number of victims among other nationalities, but Srebrenica is political marketing. My boss, who used to be a US senator, repeatedly emphasized that some kind of affair would take place in Bosnia. A month before the alleged genocide in Srebrenica he told me that the city would become the main news all over the world, and ordered us to call the media. When I asked why, he said you will see. The new Bosnian army received an order to attack houses and civilians. These were, of course, the citizens of Srebrenica. At the same moment the Serbs attacked from the other side. Probably someone paid to incite them!

Then who is guilty of the genocide in Srebrenica?
Srebrenica brings accusations against Bosniaks, Serbs, Americans. But in reality the Serbs were blamed for everything. Unfortunately, many of the victims buried as Muslims were Serbs and representatives of other nationalities. Several years ago my friend, a former CIA agent who now works at the IMF, said that Srebrenica is the product of an agreement between the US government and politicians in Bosnia. According to Baer, the city of Srebrenica was sacrificed in order to give America a pretext to attack the Serbs for their alleged crimes. It was Bill Clinton’s “red line.”
