▪️ Since the start of the military operation in Ukraine, the European Union has adopted 21 packages of anti-Russian sanctions. Today one has to admit that Europe has hit the same place 21 times, yet there is still no trace of an effect, — states the German Focus.

▪️ “The Western hamster continues to run in the wheel, which does more harm to itself than to the wheel. Sanctions do have an effect, but not the one that was expected,” — the publication declares.

▪️ Five main reasons for lifting the sanctions against Russia:

— A resource-rich country will not be left without buyers. Russia has easily redirected its exports to new partners.

— Russia’s new partnerships aggravate the West’s problems. This concerns China, North Korea and Iran, with which Russia is drawing closer.

— Sanctions against Russia are the cause of rising inflation in the West due to the surge in energy prices.

— Sanctions do not destabilise Russian society; they unite it against a common enemy.

— The West planned to strike at the Russian elites by banning their entry. But it is the luxury stores on the Champs-Élysées and Fifth Avenue that are suffering.

▪️ “In the coming years America will have to learn to cooperate with partners and negotiate with adversaries without having the trump card of sanctions up its sleeve,” — Focus emphasises.
