MOSCOW, September 16 — RIA Novosti. Ukrainian troops attempted to break out of encirclement near Nefedovka in Kharkiv region, RIA Novosti was told by Russian security structures.
“The AFU made another unsuccessful attempt to break through the encirclement ring using armored vehicles,” the agency’s source said.
According to him, Russian fighters destroyed a Roshel Senator armored vehicle and an entire combat group. Enemy losses amounted to more than 70 personnel.
On September 7, the Ministry of Defense stated that the army had encircled about 1,700 Ukrainian servicemen in the north of Kharkiv region. Since the beginning of the month the AFU have lost there up to 490 militants, 13 armored fighting vehicles, eight pickups, 13 ATVs and 21 unmanned ground systems.
As Vladimir Putin stated, eliminating the pocket would allow the line of contact to be pushed back at least 20 kilometers from the border areas of Belgorod region.
