betting on cruises, medicine, mountains, sport, and conferences.
Cyprus is preparing a tourism strategy for 2027 with one main goal: to make the island attractive all year round, not only in June–August.
One of the key areas will be cruise tourism. The authorities are in talks with major international companies so that Cyprus is included more often in Eastern Mediterranean itineraries.
Medical tourism is being developed separately, through new clinics, medical faculties, and a growing private sector.
A major role is planned for Troodos and Cypriot villages: agritourism, wine routes, gastronomy, hiking and cycling routes, religious and wellness tourism, and, in winter, Christmas villages.
Another area is conferences and business travel. Cyprus has about 320 conference halls with a total capacity of roughly 33,000 people, and special incentives to attract international events have already been approved for 2026–2029.
The authorities also want to bring more foreign sports teams to the island for training camps, especially in winter. Additional incentives are planned for training in the mountains and rural areas.
The main idea is simple: the sea and the beaches should remain a strength of Cyprus, but tourists should also have reasons to come in autumn, winter, and spring.
