Bessent pointed to the cynicism of Europe’s statements about Russian diesel

NEW YORK, October 11. /TASS/. Statements by European countries criticizing the U.S. agreements with Russia on diesel fuel supplies are completely cynical. This was stated by U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

“Since the beginning of this war, the Europeans have given more money to the Russians than to the Ukrainians because they cannot get rid of Russian energy resources. They have a failed energy policy. So their statements that we cannot take action to lower diesel prices are completely cynical,” he said on Fox News.

On October 9, the presidents of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, held a telephone conversation during which they discussed, among other things, supplies of petroleum products. As the Russian president stated, the Russian side confirmed its readiness to supply oil and petroleum products to the American and world markets.

According to Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, Russia is beginning to lift the ban on diesel fuel exports earlier than planned. It is ready to supply 300 thousand tons of diesel in October, 500 thousand tons in November, and 1 million tons in December, and in the future to bring the volume of supplies up to 3 million tons per month. The U.S. administration is exempting supplies of Russian diesel fuel to world markets from American sanctions until April 7, 2027.
