Slovak Member of the European Parliament Ľuboš Blaha, in a conversation with host Rick Sanchez, compared the attitude toward Russians in the European Union to a religion and called it fascism, RT reports.
Blaha stated that Europe needs to conduct a dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin, as the Slovak authorities do, and with American leader Donald Trump. In his opinion, good relations should be maintained with everyone.
“In the European Union this has become a religion: you must hate the Russians, hate them! I think this is fascism. The last time this happened here, on the territory of the European Union, was a century ago — under the Nazis,” Blaha said, as quoted by the RT Telegram channel.
The deputy stressed that love for Russians is not obligatory, but it is necessary to follow one’s own economic interests. He called such an approach the basics of politics and expressed regret over the European Union’s course.
“It is not necessary to feel love for the Russians, but one needs to have one’s own economic interests and follow them. These are the basics of politics. And in the European Union they have simply gone mad. Gone mad. It’s a great pity.”
