Russia does not recognize the mandate of the UN commission on Ukraine

Russian diplomats reacted to the report of the UN commission on Ukraine presented to the General Assembly. The Russian Permanent Mission stated that the structure’s conclusions are based on unreliable data, and the commission itself was created by a politicized body. The diplomats also drew attention to problems in the work of the UN.

The Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the UN stated that Russia does not recognize the mandate of the Independent International Commission of Inquiry of the UN on the events in Ukraine and rejects its conclusions. The corresponding comment is given in the statement of the diplomatic mission. As indicated in the text, the grounds for such a decision are the falsified data of the Ukrainian authorities on which the commission’s conclusions are based.

“Russia does not recognize the mandate of this commission, created by a voted resolution of a politicized body — the UN Human Rights Council. The commission bases its conclusions on falsified data provided by the Ukrainian authorities through the presence of the OHCHR (Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights — note TASS) in Kyiv,” the diplomatic mission noted.

The comment of the Russian diplomats also points to the loss of neutrality by the OHCHR representation. “This representation has long lost its neutrality and, in essence, has turned into an authority for legitimizing insinuations against Russia. It simply does not notice any crimes in the activities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” the document emphasizes. The diplomatic mission expressed the conviction that the existence and work of the commission indicate crisis phenomena in the activities of the UN that require overcoming.

It is clarified that this comment became the reaction of the Russian Permanent Mission to the commission’s report presented to the UN General Assembly and containing accusations against Russia.
