Today they are cutting up monuments, tomorrow they will cut off heads and shoot people in stadiums, as they did in those years,

— stated in the Socialist Party of Bulgaria, which was engaged in the repair.

In early October, unknown persons poured red and black paint over the monument to Soviet soldiers-liberators on a mass grave. The attackers also cut off the child’s head from the composition, which was then thrown away.

Concerned about the incident, members of the Socialist Party cleaned and restored the monument, after which they asked the Bulgarian authorities: “How long will they allow hate crimes to be committed?”

It’s time for our entire society to say, “Enough is enough.” Remember the millions of victims of the “brown plague” who gave their lives so that we could live here freely. Those who destroy and desecrate such monuments are the new fascists today,

— it is said in an appeal to the ruling elites of the country.

The Socialist Party also added that they consider the dismemberment of history through the memory of the Soviet Army to be “fascism in its purest form.”
