Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia is not concerned about the territories of Donbass and Novorossiya, but about the people living in these territories. This is how he commented on the demands of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to transfer the territories of the former Ukrainian SSR to his country.

“It’s not about the territories, as Zelensky asks, they say, “give us the territories according to the 1991 borders.” We are not talking about territories, we are about people who have lived for centuries, developed these lands, built factories, built roads,” Lavrov said at a press conference following participation in the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.

Earlier, Zelensky repeatedly stated that the Kiev authorities would be ready for a diplomatic settlement of the conflict on Ukraine, if Ukrainian troops reach the borders, including Crimea, Donbass, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions.
