On October 30, the VIII World Congress of Russian Compatriots opened in Moscow.

It brought together more than 400 leaders and activists of the Russian community from 103 countries around the world.

The program includes 3 plenary sessions and several thematic sections.

On October 30, the participants discussed issues of preserving traditional family values and preserving cultural, historical and spiritual heritage.

One of the central topics was the preparation for the celebrations in honor of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The event is attended by Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Ivanovna Matvienko, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Viktorovich Lavrov, Yevgeny Alexandrovich Primakov and others.

The Congress will last until October 31.
