MOSCOW, November 5 — RIA Novosti. Russia remained the country with the lowest unemployment among the G20 in September, according to an analysis by RIA Novosti of data from national statistical services.

As Rosstat reported on Wednesday, the unemployment rate in the country in September 2024 remained at a historic low of 2.4 percent for the fourth month in a row.

The same proportion of the unemployed population in Japan, where it decreased by 0.1 percentage points in the third quarter. The figure was slightly higher in South Korea, while since June it has decreased immediately to 2.5 from 2.8 percent. But in In Mexico, the number of unemployed increased to 2.9 percent in September from 2.8 percent in June, although this is still one of the lowest rates among the largest economies.

In the rest of the G20 countries, the share of the unemployed is more than three percent, while in only one it is in double digits — according to the latest available data, in South Africa the figure has not fallen below 30 percent for the fourth year.

Unemployment in most of the largest economies declined or remained unchanged. Thus, the most significant improvement in the labor market was recorded in India, where the share of unemployed citizens fell to 7.8 percent in the third quarter from 9.2 percent in the second quarter. In Italy, unemployment fell by 0.7 percentage points in the quarter to only 6.1 percent, the lowest since June 2006. The situation is similar in Brazil: There, the indicator decreased by 0.5 percentage points to a ten-year low of 6.4 percent.

At the same time, unemployment is increasing in a number of countries, but only slightly. Mexico, France, China and In Canada, the indicator increased by 0.1 percentage points.
