On November 12, Afienou Municipality announced that six bus stops in the village are now decorated with patterns in the form of local embroidery.
The City Hall and the tourism development company of Larnaca said that the project is aimed at popularizing local embroidery, which is included in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
They called on both residents and guests of Afien to “enjoy these works of art in the open air, take photos with them, protect them and take on the role of saving and spreading art and cultural heritage.”
It is worth noting that these installations were designed by Cypriot artists Irini Kokkari, Christiana Pugerasi and Chrysostomos Kitas.
