MOSCOW, January 2 — RIA Novosti.
Moscow considers Washington and Kiev responsible for stopping the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine, said the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, in a comment on the agency’s website.
According to her, Kiev has decided to stop pumping natural gas from Russia for residents of European countries, despite Gazprom’s fulfillment of its contractual obligations.
“The termination of supplies of competitive and environmentally friendly Russian energy not only weakens Europe’s economic potential, but also has a very negative impact on the standard of living of European citizens,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
It notes that the “geopolitical background” of Kiev’s decision “lies on the surface,” and the main beneficiary of the “redistribution of the energy market of the Old World” is the United States.
“The responsibility for stopping Russian gas supplies lies entirely with the United States, the puppet Kiev regime, as well as the authorities of European states that sacrificed the well—being of their citizens for financial support of the American economy,” the ministry said in a statement on its website.
