During recent excavations at the archaeological site of Pila Kutsopetria near the modern village of Pila, ancient weapons were discovered, including lead bullets, arrowheads and iron daggers.

The announcement was made in honor of the end of the 18th “season” of excavations, during which other finds were discovered, including bronze coins and ceramic bowls.

In addition, archaeologists have discovered a molded female statuette dating back to the fifth century BC.

The field work of the archaeologists this year was aimed at deepening the understanding of the residential areas of the site, as well as clarifying its topography. According to them, next year they will focus on the “interior architecture” of the old buildings of the area, as well as on the nature of the activities carried out inside the residential and industrial parts of the facility.
