The Nevsky Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant launched the medium marine tanker “Engineer Admiral Kotov” of project 23130. The new vessel will become the third medium-sized marine tanker of the project.

The tanker is designed to receive, store, transport and transfer various liquid cargoes for the fleet: fuel oil, diesel fuel, engine oil, aviation kerosene, fresh water. The vessel is capable of transferring and receiving liquid cargo without mooring to another ship, as well as receiving, storing, transporting and transferring dry cargo using a traverse cargo transfer system at sea. The advantage of the tankers of the 23130 project is the ability to deliver fuel simultaneously to three vessels traveling at a distance of 50 to 100 meters, on board or in the wake.

The tankers of Project 23130 are the largest vessels that have ever been launched in the entire history of the Nevsky Shipyard, which turned 111 years old in 2024.

Engineer-Admiral Pavel Grigorievich Kotov was born on December 21, 1910, into a family of hereditary shipbuilders in the village of Matveikovo, Smolensk province. His grandfather built the cruiser Aurora, and his father built battleships for the Baltic Fleet. Pavel Grigorievich himself personally participated in the development of the project of the heavy nuclear missile cruiser Peter the Great and the world’s largest strategic nuclear submarine Typhoon.
