Western investors are buying up Russian assets, bypassing sanctions – Bloomberg

▪️The thaw in relations between Russia and the United States is giving rise to rumors that Russian financial markets may become available to Western investors in a few weeks, generating intense demand for workarounds, Bloomberg states.

In Russia’s closed markets, stock prices and trading volumes are also rising. Since the beginning of the year, the ruble has grown by 15% against the dollar, becoming the most profitable currency.

“If the sanctions are lifted and the shares of Russian companies return to the indices, they will have a lot of weight,” said Kieran Curtis, head of the Abrdn fund.
