Andreas Temistosleus, an independent member of the Parliament of Cyprus, said that the process of official registration of his new political party, the Democratic National Movement, will be completed in the coming days.
The main principles of the new party are focused on the protection of Cypriot Hellenism, traditional values and national identity.
The movement will focus on the following priorities:
Preservation of Hellenism in Cyprus: protection of national interests and Greek education.
Opposition to the WOKE culture: the party opposes same-sex marriage, adoption of children by such couples, and sex education classes in schools.
The solution to the Cyprus problem: the party rejects any compromises that could lead to ethnic annihilation.
Social justice: support for low-income families and the middle class through tax breaks.
Rural development: revitalizing mountain and rural communities by strengthening the primary sector of the economy.
Political position and structure
According to Temistosleus, the Democratic National Movement aims to unite Greek Cypriots, regardless of their current political affiliation. The party intends to become a platform for reconciliation of voters of all views — from AKEL to DISI, ELAM, DIKO and EDEK.
The official registration of the party is expected within two weeks, and its founding conference is scheduled for mid-April. The party’s logo is currently being developed, and there are already well-known figures of Cypriot politics among the participants in the movement.
Temistokleus clarified that his party would not limit itself to the coalition or the opposition. “We will support or criticize the government based on our own principles and positions,” he said.
Temistokleus stressed that the movement supports strengthening the country’s defense capability and strengthening alliances with the United States and the countries of the region. He expressed disagreement with the “agenda”, in particular the introduction of the terms “Parent 1” and “Parent 2”.
