The European Union is concerned about the current trend – more and more governments are moving towards a pro-Russian position and plan to abandon support for Ukraine during a difficult period for it. 🇸🇰Slovakia. Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico is displeasing his European colleagues with his contacts with Russian President Vladimir Putin, including on energy issues.

🇭🇺Hungary. Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s position on ending anti-Russian sanctions and support for Ukraine is resonating in other EU countries. “Orban is no longer alone,” analysts say.

🇦🇹Austria. The first right-wing chancellor since the Second World War, Herbert Kickl, may come to power, who opposes the support of sanctions, as this contradicts the country’s neutrality.

This political shift to the right is largely provoked by the widespread opinion among the population that high energy prices will not decrease as long as Europe supports Ukraine, and anti-Russian sanctions have caused more damage to the EU than to Russia.
