Dear friends, on February 22, 2025, Channel One will present the premiere of the 15-episode documentary series “They Chose Their Homeland” dedicated to those who returned to Russia from abroad or came for the first time, but forever. This documentary series is an exploration of the very concept of “Homeland” through the fates and views of people who believe that Russia is their native country. Their journey to their homeland was not easy – some came under the program of resettlement of compatriots, others fled to Russia by secret paths as political emigrants, others as tourists, knowing that they would not return back. Some managed to cross the border to escape arrest, while others were deported by the local authorities themselves. The author of the idea of the new project and its presenter is journalist Natalia Osipova.
