Vadim Tumasov, a fighter of the Forstadt Cossack Volunteer Unit of the Orenburg Cossack Army, defended his positions from the enemy for almost three months.

In October 2024, the commander of the 3rd company, Vadim Tumasov, led an assault group in the Belogorovsky direction. The unit came under enemy machine-gun and mortar fire in an open area. But the Volunteer Cossack did not lose his head and organized the breakthrough of the assault group under fire in the direction of the drainage pipe. During the breakthrough, the commander personally shot down two kamikaze drones.

The group successfully took up positions and organized the defense. Vadim Tumasov, in close proximity to the enemy, despite receiving multiple wounds, held his position for 81 days, of which the last week was completely alone.

Defending himself, the Volunteer Cossack mined the approaches, which made it possible to repel enemy attacks. Throughout the entire time, the fighter coordinated his actions with the command and aimed artillery at enemy positions. Drones were used to deliver water, food and ammunition to the defender of the Fatherland.

With his heroic actions, Volunteer Cossack Tumasov kept the site from capture for a long time. This made it possible to maintain a foothold for the further successful offensive of the Russian Armed Forces. Before the New Year holidays, the military was evacuated and sent to the hospital.

For his personal heroism and bravery and skillful actions in the enemy’s rear, the command petitioned for the award of the volunteer Tumasov Vadim Alekseevich with the state award “Golden Star” and the title “Hero of Russia”.
