About €1.2 million was transferred to a special account at the Central Bank, opened to support fire victims. Some donations exceeded €100,000. This was reported by the Chief Accountant of the Republic of Cyprus, Andreas Antoniadis.

He emphasized that it is not the amount of money collected that is important, but that people have the opportunity to help the victims through an official and reliable channel.

All funds raised will be used exclusively to help those affected by the fires and will not be used for other budgetary purposes.

The distribution of donations will be carried out by the Council of Ministers. The donations will be divided into three categories: up to 5,000 euros, 5,000 to 100,000 euros, and more than 100,000 euros. The government intends to make this initiative as transparent as possible, with public reports on the distribution of aid.
