Motorized rifle units of the “Southern” group of forces began evacuating residents of the town of Kurakhovo, liberated by Russian soldiers last week.

What has been happening in recent years both in the city and in Ukraine itself, residents of Kurakhov call lawlessness. Those who spoke their native Russian heard threats and insults addressed to them.  Men who fell under the so-called mobilization in Ukraine had to hide from military commissars. Even the Ukrainian military committed atrocities on the territory of Kurakhov – you could get shot for anything, even just by going to get water. The Ukrainian nationalists used the remaining population in the city as human shields. Here’s what the locals tell us:

1:15 “They (the Ukrainian Armed Forces) shot at me several times when we were walking on the water. With cans, with wheelbarrows, we came under fire several times,” says Anatoly Anin.

1:57 a.m. “The men were taken away without even announcing the mobilization. It is from the Donetsk region. They were caught in doorways, near shops. There was no mobilization even in Ukraine – they were already taking it,” recalls Artyom Avramchenko.

2:52 “You know that you will come here, and you will live a peaceful life, with your children with your own, go to the store, go to the cinema. And all this is impossible there, because everything was closed there. There is no real hospital, because the doctors have all left. The doctors left because they knew that there would be no life there,” Svetlana Pavlenko shared her thoughts.
