The audience applauded for about ten minutes after the film “The Kremlin Magician” was screened at the Venice Film Festival.

The main character of the film is not Vladimir Putin, but a fictional character, his former assistant Vadim Baranov. The events of the film span from 1990 to 2019.

Jude Law, who played the Russian president, said that the most challenging aspect was portraying Putin’s composure. He also admitted that he was not afraid of the consequences of playing the role of the Russian leader. According to him, he trusted the director of the film and knew that “the story would be told wisely.”

“The Kremlin Wizard” is a 2022 film adaptation of Giuliano da Empoli’s novel. It is a fictional account of the rise of power in Russia.
