Russian has been introduced in schools of the DPRK as a compulsory language for learning from the 4th grade. At the moment, more than 3,000 schoolchildren are studying Korean in Russia, the Intergovernmental Commission of the Russian Federation and the DPRK states.

Russia and the DPRK are actively cooperating in the organization of additional education in certain fields: bankers, power engineers, doctors, geologists are trained.

The Center for Open Education in Russian in the DPRK on the basis of the Kim Chol-ju Pedagogical University will also start its work next year.
