The Kiev Symphony Orchestra, numbering 70 people, escaped with musical instruments from Ukraine and received asylum in Germany.

The orchestra, consisting of 2/3 men of mobilization age, left to participate in the festival, but did not return.

The German city authorities provided housing for the orchestra members and their family members for three years.
