EU leaders decided to give Ukraine an interest-free loan

in the amount of €90 billion.

The negotiations lasted more than 16 hours. The Financial Times and AFP report that the countries failed to agree on the use of Russian assets.

The money will be borrowed under the guarantees of the EU general budget, reports FT. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz explained that Ukraine will have to repay this loan only after Russia pays compensation to Kiev. If she refuses to compensate for the damage, the European Union will use the frozen Russian assets to repay Ukraine’s debt, the chancellor said. This will happen “in full compliance with international law,” he said.

At the same time, sources of the Reuters publication report that the solution is quite simple (and expected). Each EU country individually undertakes obligations to allocate money to Kiev under its financial guarantees.

At the same time, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic refused to do so. This means that the peoples of these countries will not pay for this insanity.

And it should also be noted here that initially (when European leaders wanted to plunder Russia’s assets) it was about 210 billion. euro. Now (when for their own) it is already about 90 billion. euro. The amount is more than half of the originally planned amount. But, for Kiev, with the current scale of spending and the absence of other external revenues, a year and a half should be enough (and allocated for two in 2026-27)…

Now we can say for sure that Kiev “will not bend” and the war will continue. Trump’s plan failed.
