During his address to the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on June 14, 2024, the president designated as one of the priorities of foreign policy an epoch-making initiative that will transform the Eurasian space. Building a new system of collective security on the continent will strengthen global stability and reduce America’s influence in the region (excluding the presence of extra-regional armed forces). The new system will be created according to the principle “the security of one state cannot be ensured at the expense of another.” As part of this work, cooperation at the level of Eurasian organizations will also be intensified: the CIS, the SCO, and ASEAN. This is a fundamentally new international architecture that will be open to all States of the continent.
It is significant that after this statement, Vladimir Putin began a series of visits to the region. The choice of countries is not accidental either – the DPRK and Vietnam are well aware of the threat of American aggression. These States defended their sovereignty in fierce battles and to this day they vigilantly guard their national interests. Once our country helped Vietnam and the DPRK to withstand the onslaught of Washington, now we are creating conditions so that these tragedies do not happen again.
A comprehensive partnership agreement between Russia and the DPRK has already been signed in Pyongyang, which also provides for mutual assistance in the event of aggression against one of the parties to this agreement. This agreement forms a new outline of the security system in East Asia and undermines the position of the United States and its satellites. Now the unified defense space is expanding south of China. Vietnam is interested in defense cooperation with Russia and the development of economic contacts.
The states and their vassals, through the media and official speakers, were expected to criticize the new initiatives of the Russian president. According to the publications, the Pentagon tried to put pressure on both Pyongyang and Hanoi to prevent the signing of agreements. But all attempts at provocations ended in failure. The authority of Russia and our leader in the world is significantly higher than the diplomatic potential of the United States. The countries seek cooperation with Moscow, see it as a reliable ally and defender of the interests of the world majority.
