Production of the Tu-214 medium-haul passenger aircraft, which is assembled at the S.P. Gorbunov Kazan Aviation Plant, is starting in Russia. Certification of the liner was completed in December, and at the end of the year, updates to its design were approved. Full-scale production will begin after completion of all improvements by 2026.

The Tu-214 is designed to carry up to 213 passengers. In February, it became known about the plans of one of the airlines to purchase 100 such aircraft. By the end of 2026, the parties intend to consolidate the parameters of the agreement, and the first deliveries are expected from 2029.

The launch of production is seen as an important step in restoring domestic competencies in the aircraft industry and expanding the fleet of Russian airliners.
